Awareness Training Program on Food Safety Management

ISO 22000:2005

This two-day course provides the participants the skills and knowledge to perform internal food safety audits within their organizations and to contribute to the continual improvement of the food safety management system.

COURSE OVERVIEW:

Participants will be made aware of the current best practice in the field of food safety audit of FSMS and will be encouraged to develop their audit skills through analysis and self criticism.

Through various methods, including group tasks, brainstorming, role plays and simulations, reflection exercises and interactive participation by participants, the course will enable the participants to plan, conduct and report an internal audit of part of an food safety management system in accordance with ISO 19011 standard. The tutor will provide theoretical inputs where needed and emphasis will be on imparting applied knowledge in various situations, discussion of real life examples and the participant sharing their experiences with each other to enhance the learning experience. The course will also provide an opportunity to the participants for self assessment of their understanding of the food safety audit process and techniques through progress test.

COURSE OBJECTIVE:
By the end of the course, the participants will:

• Learn to describe food safety with process approach and the purpose, structure and requirements of ISO 22000 from the point of view of an internal auditor.

• Gain knowledge about the responsibilities of an internal auditor and how internal food safety audit plays a role in the maintenance and improvement of food safety management systems.

• Acquire skills in the audit cycle of planning, conducting and reporting an internal food safety audit as a part of management system in accordance with ISO 19011 standard.

• Gain skills in conducting food safety audits, through observations, listening and questioning skills.

• Be able to link evidence to non-conformities and identify areas of improvement.

• Acquire skills related to audit report writing, presentation of audit finding and submissions of recommendations for corrective and preventive actions and verifying the effectiveness of corrective actions post the audit.

• All food business operators including hotels, retailers, caterers.
• Manufacturers of equipment for food processing.
• Food related packaging material/chemicals.
• Management system Auditor and consultants.
• Representatives from authorities.

CERTIFICATE:

A certificate of completion will be issued to successful participants based on performance during the course as well as the examination which will be conducted on the final day of the course.
